HOUSTON – The HBU softball team hosts their final pair of games before starting Southland Conference play against Prairie View A&M in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Husky Field. The Huskies currently lead 9-1-1 winning the last seven matchups in the series against the Panthers after last seeing them in a 3-2 win in 2019. Tune into the Husky Sports Network to follow the game with Rodney Sydlik. 

HBU (5-1) is led by sophomore Autumn Sydlik in batting average swinging .421 followed by senior Heidi Jaquez swinging .412. Senior Riley Bullen bats a .250 average with six RBI and the team's sole homerun of the season. The Huskies is currently batting a .305 average.  

Redshirt freshman Madison Cotton leads with a 0.00 ERA in 10.1 innings pitched with a 2-0 record. Redshirt freshman also posts a 0.00 ERA in her four innings pitched with six strikeouts on the season with junior Jessica Patak following holding a 1.00 ERA in 14 innings pitched with eight strikeouts.  

Prairie View A&M (0-2) comes into the game after a 0-2 loss to Tarleton State. The team bats a .256 average with a 6.25 ERA from the pitching staff.  

The Huskies will open Southland Conference play in a three-game home series against Abilene Christian on Friday, March 12 with a doubleheader at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. and finishing up with a NOON game on Saturday, March 13 at Husky Field.
