FRISCO – HBU women's basketball sophomore guard Timia Jefferson and junior guard Julija Vujakovic were selected on the 2021 Southland Conference All-Academic Second team as voted on by the head coaches and announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Timia Jefferson is pursuing her degree in Psychology earning a 3.44 GPA. Jefferson appeared and started in all 22 games averaging 15.0 points per game ranking fourth in the conference. She also ranked fifth in the conference with a .366 field goal percentage and fifth in steals with 52, averaging 2.36 a game. She scored double-digit points in every game after having none in the first game of the season with four 20+ point games with a career high 28 point against Nicholls State (1/30/2021). She was also selected for the 2021 SLC All-Conference Second team.
Julija Vujakovic is also pursuing a degree in psychology earning a 3.97 GPA. Vujakovic appeared in all 22 games with 19 starts averaging 9.4 points per game. She had the most three-pointers on the team with 31 with a .330 average. She totaled 27 steals and was third on the team with 35 assists and 10 blocks. She was 78-for-202 averaging .386 in field goals and had 66 total rebounds on the season. She had eight games in double-digit points with three 20+ point games tying her career high 21 points against Abilene Christian (2/10/2021).
HBU finished their season 11-11 going 6-7 in conference. They took the first round 74-60 victory of the 2021 Southland Conference Tournament to McNeese, and fell 56-51 in the second-round heartbreaker to Central Arkansas.
