NATCHITOCHES, La - The HBU softball team is set for their first road series of Southland Conference play against Northwestern State with a Friday, March 26 doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. and a series wrap up on Saturday at noon.
HBU (9-6,2-4 SLC) has split both doubleheaders in the first two series of conference play, falling in game three to Abilene Christian and Southeastern Louisiana. Since starting conference play, leadoff hitter Shelby Echols leads the team with a .474 batting average with Jasie Roberts following batting .421 with two doubles, five RBI and a homerun. Autumn Sydlik bats a .333 with 10 RBI and three homeruns after grabbing two homers against Southeastern Louisiana. The Huskies are currently hitting .284 with five homers on the conference season.
The pitching staff has seen the most action from Jessica Patak (3-5,0-3 SLC) in SLC play with a 3.98 ERA in 19.1 innings with 11 strikeouts. Lyndie Swanson (2-0 SLC) throws a 3.41 ERA in 12.1 innings pitched with 12 strikeouts.
