HOUSTON – HBU Softball hosts the UH-Victoria at Husky Field for the first home game since March 7, 2020 after the season was halted by COVID-19, for a double-header on Friday, Feb. 26. HBU will also head out on Sunday, Feb. 28 for a double-header against Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The UH-Victoria doubleheader will be broadcasted on the Husky Sports Network with Russ Reneau.
HBU (2-0) is currently hitting .345 as a team with four Huskies hitting over .500 after their sweep over Nicholls for opening weekend. The team is led by Senior outfielder Riley Bullen batting a .571 average going 4-7 with a three-run homerun, her first of her senior campaign, and driving in six runs on the weekend. Sophomore third basemen Autumn Sydlik bats an average of .600 going 3-5 while scoring four times and driving in one run. Redshirt freshman second basemen Shelby Echols had six total bases batting also a .571 going 4-7 and driving in two runs.
The HBU pitching staff posted a 1.50 earned run average on the weekend with a shutout from junior Jessica Patak in game one with one hit on 15 at bats and zero runs while Lyndie Swanson and Madison Cotton also post a 0.00 era. The Huskies held their opponents to a .263 batting average in the opening double-header.
