CHICAGO, Ill. – HBU freshman linebacker
Rodney Dansby has been named to the 2021 FCS Jerry Rice Award Watch List by Stats Perform announced on Wednesday morning.
The Jerry Rice Award is presented annually to the top freshman in FCS and is now in its 11
th year. Dansby currently ranks 13
th in the nation in tackles, averaging 10 per game and leading the Huskies. Over his last two games, he has totaled 33 tackles thanks to a 19-tackle effort at Southeastern that matched the school record for a single game before piling up 14 against Nicholls. His total is made all the more impressive by the fact he had just one in the season opener at New Mexico. In Southland Conference play, he is averaging 13.25 tackles per game.
Dansby is one of 22 student-athletes named to the 2021 list with a 50-member national media panel ultimately selecting a winner at the conclusion of the regular season.
