HOUSTON – HBU took control from the start to down UIW, 66-49, in the Huskies' home finale Wednesday night in Sharp Gym.

Taylor Kollmorgen recorded her second double-double on the season, after scoring a game-high 13 points with 12 rebounds and three blocks in her last home appearance. Senior forward
Lauren Calver added 12 points, alongside four rebounds with three assists, while freshman guard
Timia Jefferson scored 12 points with four rebounds and three assists. Freshman guard
Kennedy Wilson also scored in double figures with 12. Junior guard
Megan Valdez-Crader had seven points, seven assists and six rebounds, while senior guard
Shannon Jones contributed six points and five boards.
UIW dropped to an even 14-14 on the season while staying above .500 with a 10-9 record in conference. Lunden Henry scored a team-high 12 points, going 5-of-13 from the field, while collecting five rebounds. Imani Robinson scored 10 points with five rebounds and two blocks.
HBU shot 43.1 percent from the field, including 50 percent (7-for-14) from long distance, and went 9-of-17 at the free throw line. UIW shot only 27.5 percent from the field, 21.1 percent from 3-point range, and 7-of-13 from the line.
The Huskies took control from the get-go with a 7-0 run, but the Cardinals bounced back and were able to tie the game at 12 apiece by the end of the first period.
UIW took its first lead of the game on a 3-pointer by Kara Speer early in the second, but HBU answered with a 12-2 run to lead 24-17 with 5:16 left in the opening half. Leading 26-20, the Huskies closed the half with a 15-2 run -- sparked by 3-pointers from Calver, Valdez-Crader and Jefferson -- over the final 4:06 to build a 41-22 advantage at the break.
HBU kept its foot on the gas out of the locker room, leading by as much as 28 at 54-26, before settling for a 20-point cushion at the end of the quarter. UIW whittled the lead down to 17 on a couple of occasions down the stretch, including the final margin of victory for the Huskies on Senior Night.
The Huskies head to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi this Saturday at 1 p.m. for the final matchup of the 2019-2020 season.
