HOUSTON - HBU fell in an afternoon matchup against Sam Houston State, 97-69, in Southland Conference women's basketball on Saturday inside Sharp Gym.
HBU (4-11, 0-6 SLC) was led by senior guard
Shannon Jones, who shot 81.8 percent from the field, scoring 18 points with four rebounds, two blocks and three steals. Junior forward
Patience Idoko recorded 12 points, while getting three rebounds and senior forward
Lauren Calver grabbed five rebounds.
The Bearkats (13-4, 8-0) had five players in double digits, with leading scorer Amber Leggett recording a game-high 23 points to go along with three rebounds and three steals. Faith Cook poured in 20 points, while recording eight assists.
The Huskies return home to host the Nicholls Colonels on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
