HOUSTON- HBU Softball completed the sweep of Abilene Christian with a 8-5 victory on Senior day.
HBU (23-23, 11-16) was led by the long ball as they hit three homeruns on the day to push them to victory. The scoring started in the 1st inning when
Demi Janak got the only hit that wasn't a long ball for the Huskies, when she hit a RBI double to score
Heidi Jaquez. Brockway eventually scored from third on a passed ball to tie the game up at 2. Just an inning later
Amber Lotz picked a good time for her first homerun of the season when she lifted a ball to left field for a three run homerun. Abilene Christian then rallied back in the 5th and the 6th inning to tie things back up at 5-5. In the bottom half of the 6th inning
Demi Janak launched a ball well out to left center for a solo shot. Senior
Ashley Herrera drew a pinch hit walk before senior
Brooke Bushman hit a two run shot to right for her 1st career homerun at Husky Field.
Emma Guindon (11-7) got the win in the circle for the Huskies coming in relief of
Elliott Estes. Guindon pitched 2.1 innings giving up one run on four hits. Estes got the no decision going 4.2 innings giving up four runs, one earned on six hits.
ACU (13-31, 6-21) was led by Samantha Bradley and Blair Clayton on the day. Bradley went a perfect 4-4 on the day driving in one run. Clayton followed her up with a 2-4 day with 2 RBI's for the Wildcats. Briana Tijernia drove in the last run for Abilene Christian going 1-3 at the plate scoring once.
Jillian Hefner (1-4) got the loss in the circle for ACU pitching 6 innings giving up eight runs, four earned on four hits with two strikeouts.
HBU concludes the season with a .500 record going 23-23 and 10-17 in Southland Conference play. The Huskies will look forward to your support in the 2020 softball season
