HOUSTON- HBU Softball took home a pair of wins on Friday by the scores of 10-2 and 2-1. HBU exploded for 11 hits in game one that led to a 6 run second inning before finishing the game with two runs in the sixth for the run rule. Game two was a pitchers duel as Callie Burns and
Emma Guindon faced off for 7 innings a piece before Elliot Estes came on in relief of Guindon to snag the win.
HBU (22-23, 9-17) were led by
Heidi Jaquez at the plate today, as the junior catcher reached base safely six times in the two games including a double and a solo shot to get the Huskies on the board in game one. Jaquez went 3-6 on the day with an RBI, two runs scored and two walks.
Caitlyn Brockway was also hot at the plate collecting five hits including a double and the walk off homerun to dead center in game two. Brockway went 5-8 with four RBI's and three runs scored.
Demi Janak,
Riley Bullen,
Sierra Humphrey, and
Haley Melton all had two hit games on the day with Bullen grabbing a double. Freshman Autumn Sudlik added a homerun in game one and a double in game two.Â
Jessica Patak (5-9) got the win in game one for the Huskies pitching 4 innings giving up two runs on three hits with two strikeouts. Elliot Estes (7-7) got the win in game two for HBU pitching 1 inning giving up one hit after a extremely strong 7 innings of work from freshman
Emma Guindon who gave up one run on six hits with two strikeouts.Â
ACU (13-30, 6-20) wasl led by Linsey Tomlinson and Kayla Keeling on the day. Tomlinson went 1-2 with two runs scored and one RBI on a homerun in game one followed by a 1-4 performance in game two. Keeling went 2-3 in game one before reaching on a walk in game two. Kaitlyn Huseman added a 2-3 performance in game two driving in the lone Wildcat run.Â
Samantha Bradley (6-18) got the loss in the circle for ACU in game one giving up six runs on five hits in a 1.1 innings pitched. Callie Burris finished the final 3,2 innings giving up two runs on six hits before starting game two. Callie Burris (6-8) got the hardluck loss in game two pitching a stellar two runs on eight hits in 7 full innings.Â
