CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - HBU faces Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a three-game Southland Conference series Friday through Sunday at Chapman Field. There will be no Husky Sports Network broadcasts for the weekend, but the games can be seen on goislanders.com.
 
Junior first baseman Johnny Gonzales is hitting .283 with eight doubles, three triples, two home runs, 13 RBIs and 15 runs, while junior rightfielder Brandon Bena has an eight-game hitting streak and is hitting .272 with seven doubles, a home run, 11 RBIIs and 16 runs. Junior third baseman Trent Franson is hitting .271 with six doubles, a triple, five RBIs and a team-leading 17 runs, while junior infielder Nathan Soriano also has an eight-game hitting streak and is hitting .256 with three doubles, two triples, 10 RBIs and 12 runs. Junior centerfielder Chase Talbot leads the Huskies with four home runs and 15 RBIs.
 
HBU is expected to send senior righthanders Zach Carter and Brady Batten and junior righthander Kyle Gruller to the mound. Senior closer JT Newton has three saves and ranks third on HBU's all-time list.
 
Enrique Sanchez is hitting .388 with 10 doubles, a triple, 27 RBIs and 25 runs, while Itchy Burts is hitting .354 with nine doubles, a home run, 16 RBIs and 24 runs for TAMU-CC. Luke Marbach is hitting .337 with nine doubles, two home runs, 18 RBIs and 17 runs and Nick Anderson is hitting .331 with four doubles, two triples, a home run, 24 RBIs and 23 runs.
 
The Islanders will likely start righthanders Dustin Lacaze, Leo Perez and Zach Rumfield.
 
HBU will play its next four at home, hosting UT Rio Grande Valley Wednesday at 3 p.m., followed by a three-game series Friday through Sunday, April 12-14, against Abilene Christian at Husky Field.
