HOUSTON- HBU Softball drops a pair of games to Nicholls this evening by scores of 4-2 and 3-2.
Game One: The Huskies were led by
Caitlyn Brockway in game one. Brockway took Nicholls' starter deep for one of the Huskies' two RBI's in the game.
Haley Melton followed her up with a RBI single. Catcher
Heidi Jaquez added a 2-3 performance.
Elliot Estes (5-5) took the loss for HBU in the circle going 4.2 innings giving up two runs, one earned on five hits with one strikeout.
Nicholls combined for eight hits in the game with two going for extra bases. Kasey Frederick drove in three of the Colonels' four runs with a 2-3 performance including a homerun and also scoring twice. Samantha Mracich followed her up going 1-3 with a RBI.
Megan Landry (19-8) went the distance for the Colonels giving up two runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
Game Two: The Huskies were led again by
Caitlyn Brockway in game two driving in two runs on a 2-4 performance.
Autumn Sydlik drove in the other run for HBU in a 1-2 day scoring once.
Demi Janak added a perfect 2-2 performance.
Emma Guindon (6-6) took the loss for HBU pitching 6 innings giving up three runs, one earned on four hits striking out two.
Nicholls made the most of their four hits with Kasey Frederick and Corynn Major driving in the only runs for the Colonels. Emily Danehower (4-0) got the win in the circle for the Colonels going 5.2 innings giving up two runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts. Megan Landry (1) got her first save of the season closing out the game pitching 1.1 innings clean.
HBU will face Nicholls in the series finale tomorrow with first pitch slated at 1:00 P.M.
