FB: Langston Tunson Named to Hampshire Honor Society

Senior linebacker earns award from National Football Foundation



IRVING, Texas - HBU senior linebacker Langston Tunson has been selected to the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame Hampshire Honor Society, the organization announced Wednesday.

Tunson has a 3.93 GPA as a legal studies major and will graduate from HBU in only three years to begin law school. The Humble, Texas, native led the Southland Conference and ranked fourth in the nation with 12.2 tackles per game, totaling 110 stops on the year. He also ranked fourth in the league with 16 tackles for loss and 24th with 3.5 sacks. Tunson recorded six double-digit tackle efforts, including a career-high 19 against McNeese to tie the school record for a single game. He opened the season with 16 tackles, six TFLs, two sacks and an interception against Southwest Baptist, made 18 tackles and recovered a fumble against Abilene Christian and had 15 tackles at Lamar.

The Hampshire Honor Society began in 2007 and HBU now has 11 total honorees and at least one every year since 2015 when the program became eligible for the award.

Members of the Hampshire Honor Society must have completed their final year of playing eligibility in 2018, achieved a 3.2 cumulative GPA or better throughout the entire course of undergraduate study and met all NCAA mandated progress toward degree requirements.
