NEW ORLEANS – The HBU beach volleyball team will hit the road to face 18
th-ranked Tulane Tuesday at the White Sands Volleyball Courts.
The Huskies are receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll and Tulane is one of seven scheduled matches against the current Top 25. HBU has another match against Green Wave on March 9 and also face No. 13 Georgia State (March 10), No. 6 Cal Poly (March 23), No. 19 TCU (March 23), No. 7 LSU (April 7) and No. 9 South Carolina (April 7).
HBU returns a pair of seniors in
Bailey Banks and
Aeriel Horton, who paired with
Jessica Wooten at the No. 1 position last year and advanced to bracket play at the USA Beach Championships. The Huskies also welcome back juniors
Tori Hinojosa and
Danielle Wheeler and sophomores
Meagan Carter and
Brennan Miller.
The Huskies have a huge freshman class comprised of
Natalie Bennett,
Kylie Bryan,
Maddie Butters,
Conley Harris,
Lindsay Harris,
Lauren Huggins,
Rayann Rabius and
Katelynn Tripp.
Tulane (1-3) began its season with three of its four matches against Top 10 opponents at the FSU Invitational. The Green Wave swept Tampa, but fell to No. 3 Florida State, No. 6 Cal Poly and No. 7 LSU.
Up next for the Huskies will be four matches at Texas A&M-Kingsville Tournament Friday and Saturday at the Javelina Beach Volleyball Courts in Kingsville.
