NATCHITOCHES, La.- HBU Softball goes 1-1 on the day dropping game one to Northwestern State 8-0 before regrouping to romp University of Arkansas Pine Bluff 9-2.
Game One- HBU had four total hits in game one with two coming from junior
Amber Lotz.
Jessica Patak (1-3) got the loss in the circle going a inning and a third giving up three runs on two hits, and five walks.
Emma Guindon went the rest of the distance giving up five runs on seven hits, and six walks.Â
Northwestern State had nine hits as a team led by the performances of Alexis Perry and Cayla Jones. Perry went a perfect 3-3 with two RBI's, a run scored, and one walk. Jones went 1-3 with a three-run homerun, two runs scored, and a walk.Â
Game Two- HBU had 16 total hits with all nine starters recording a hit.
Heidi Jaquez led all hitters with four hits on the day recording three runs and two RBI's. Newcomer
Riley Bullen went 1-3 with a two RBI triple and a sac fly.
Sierra Humphrey added to her hot start at the plate going 3-4 with two runs scored. Sophomore Elliot Estes (1-1) got the start for the Huskies in the circle, and got the win going two and a third innings giving up two runs on five hits, and one walk.
Jessica Patak went the rest of the way only surrendering two hits in four and two thirds innings with eight strikeouts.Â
Arkansas Pine Bluff was led by Shanice Akins at the plate going 3-4 with a double and a RBI. Samantha Harris went 1-3 with an RBI to follow her up. Karia Hall (0-2) went the distance for the Golden Lions giving up five earned runs on 16 hits, two walks, and three strikeouts.Â
HBU will face Arkansas Pine Bluff once more at 10a.m. tomorrow before a rematch with Northwestern State at 12:30 to wrap up the Lady Demon Classic, and getting ready for a midweek matchup at the University of Texas Wednesday Feb. 27.Â
