HOUSTON – HBU men's basketball will welcome Southeastern Louisiana to Sharp Gym for this season's only meeting between the two programs on Wednesday evening in Sharp Gym. Husky fans who can't make it to the game can still catch all the action via the Husky Sports Network broadcast with Lonnie King, available at HBUHuskies.com.

HBU (5-11, 1-4 SLC) senior Braxton Bonds currently ranks 38th nationally in steals per game with an average of 2.13, which is tops in the Southland Conference. In league play, his average has risen by more than a steal per contest to 3.8 spg.

Through five conference games, the Huskies lead the Southland with a plus-nine rebounding margin while Southeastern Louisiana (6-12, 2-3 SLC) is second at plus-6.4. HBU has again been among the top offensive rebounding teams in the nation this season, ranking sixth with an average of 14.56 offensive boards per game, after finishing the last two seasons in the top-10 nationally in the category. Sophomore Philip McKenzie is 20th in the nation, pulling down 3.38 offensive rebounds per game.

Wednesday's game will feature the top two scorers in SLC play this season as the Huskies' Ian DuBose and SLU's Marlain Veal are both pouring in 21 points per game. Veal, who leads the Lions with 16.1 ppg, has scored from all over the court this season. The senior leads the league in free throws made, connecting on 97-of-119 from the charity stripe, and is shooting 36.8 percent (35-of-95) from three-point range.

Fellow senior Moses Greenwood is shooting 57.3 percent (110-of-192) from the floor to rank second in the conference in field goal percentage and is averaging 15.6 ppg while also leading SLU with 7.4 rebounds per game. Much like the Huskies, SLU has seen all five of its SLC games decided by seven points or less with a scoring margin of 0.0.

HBU is 5-6 all-time against the Lions and has won the last two meetings inside Sharp Gym, the last of which came Jan. 5, 2017 with the Huskies prevailing 81-74.

The HBU coaching staff will be participating in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers initiative to raise awareness for the work being done by the American Cancer Society.

The Huskies will travel to Lake Charles, La. this weekend for a Saturday, Jan. 26, 3:00 p.m. game against McNeese at the H&HP Complex. Saturday's game will be aired live on ESPN+.
