HOUSTON – HCU's
Craig Doty and
Drew Long are set to take part in the 2026 H-Town Basketball Tip-Off Luncheon this Wednesday at the Bayou City Event Center, joining guest speaker Fran Fraschilla and the rest of the collegiate head basketball coaches from across the city at the event hosted by the Houston Athletic Committee.
The HCU head coaches will join the men's and women's head coaches from Houston, Rice, Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M and St. Thomas on a panel while attendees will also hear from Fraschilla. Attendees on hand will also get a first look as the preseason top-15 boys and girls high school teams in the greater Houston area are unveiled.
Doty is entering his third season at the helm of the Huskies' men's program and has led HCU to Southland Conference tournament bids in each of his first two seasons. One of just five teams to qualify for each of the last two SLC tournaments, the Huskies have posted a winning record at home in each of the last two seasons for the first time since 2015-17. Doty's Huskies kick-off the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 3, against Louisiana Christian at 7:00 p.m. inside Historic Sharp Gymnasium.
Long, meanwhile, is set to begin year two as the head of the HCU women's program. In his first year in charge, the Huskies improved their win total from the year before and doubled their wins in SLC play from three to six. HCU begins its 2026-27 campaign on Monday, Nov. 2, with a trip across town to face the Rice Owls at 8:25 p.m. at Tudor Fieldhouse.
