HAMMOND, Louisiana, - HBU Softball drops the final game of the series against Southeastern Louisiana, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at North Oak Park.
The Huskies (7-22, 4-11 SLC) were led by junior shortstop
Demi Janak, who extended her hitting streak to four games, as she went 1-for-3 with a double. Freshman pitcher
Jessica Patak (4-13) got the loss allowing one run on two hits, an error, a walk and a strikeout in three innings. Freshman relief pitcher
Elliott Estes appeared in three innings and allowed one run on two hits and an error.
Shortstop Jaquelyn Ramon went 1-for-2 and scored for the Lady Lions (22-15, 9-6 SLC). Pinch hitter Madisen Blackford and first baseman Rebecca Skains each recorded an RBI, while pinch runner Peyton Sutton scored. Rachel Hayes (9-6) tossed the shutout and only allowed one hit and had four strikeouts.
The Lady Lions started the third innings with back-to-back hits. With runners on second and third, Blackford flied out to right field, but was able to push pinch runner Peyton Sutton across. SLU scored again in similar fashion in the sixth. Ramon put a bunt down to reach first and stole second. Mahalia Gibson also put a bunt down to reach first and sent Ramon to third. A sacrifice fly out to center by Skains sent Ramon home.
The Huskies remain on the road to face North Texas Wednesday, April 11 at 6 p.m. They return home to host Stephen F. Austin for a three-game series Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14.
