BOCA RATON, Florida – HBU's number one pair of senior
Jessica Wooten and
Aeriel Horton won both of their matches, but the Huskies were clipped by Florida Gulf Coast and Florida Atlantic, both by 3-2 scores, on the first day of the Burrow Beach Bash Friday at the FAU Beach Volleyball Courts.
In the morning matches against FGCU, Wooten and Horton held on in three sets against Amanda Carroll and Mackenzie Allen, 21-11, 18-21, 16-14, while senior
Kayla Armer and sophomore
Tori Hinojosa also won at number two over Giovanna Borgiotti and Ashley Glickert, 21-16, 21-17. At number three, Karissa Rhoades and Katherine Puisis outlasted senior
Bailey Banks and freshman
Katya Silveira, 18-21, 21-12, 17-15. Sophomore

Brennan Miller fell at number four to Kayla Whetstone and Snowy Burnam, 21-16, 21-18, and Alayna Ryan and Kaitlyn Krivdo need three sets to put away freshmen

Mikayla Vivens were defeated by Kellie Pernula and Cortney VanLiew, 22-20, 21-14.
In the afternoon against host FAU, Wooten and Horton rallied past Brittany Pellitteri and Carly Scarborough, 25-27, 21-13, 15-13. The Huskies also won at the number three spot with Banks and Silveira downing Nicole Grant and Nicole Navarro, 21-18, 21-17. Armer and Hinojosa lost a tough battle at number two to Gabrielle Dischler and Jessalyn Kinlaw, 21-14, 16-21, 21-19. At number four Amanda Silver and Kaila Dorish defeated Wheeler and Vivens, 21-17, 21-7, and Erica Brok and Mackenzie Morris won at number five over
Jordyn Miller and Carter, 21-13, 21-7. In the exhibition match, Fluke and
Brennan Miller fell to Julia Lewkowicz and Sam Gott, 21-12, 21-16.
The Huskies wrap up the event Saturday against Webber International at 10 a.m. and Georgia State at 2 p.m.
