CONWAY, Arkansas – HBU began the day by rallying for a 3-2 victory over host Central Arkansas, then swept Ottawa International, 5-0, Saturday in the Central Arkansas Invitational at the Beach Bear Sand Courts.

In the win over UCA, the Huskies (8-9) had to rally after dropping the first two matches. Senior Kali Fluke and freshman Brennan Miller were topped by Mackenzie Dear and Shelby Holmes, 22-20, 21-10, at number five, while sophomore Danielle Wheeler and Mikayla Vivens were edged by Kristine Hjembo and Colene Hamilton at number four, 18-21, 21-18, 15-13. Senior Bailey Banks and freshman Katya Silveira rebounded at the three spot, coming back to defeat Aly Brinkley and Jessica Martinez, 8-21, 21-19, 15-12. At the two position, senior Kayla Armer and sophomore Tori Hinojosa even the match by cruising past Delaney Driver and MC Rogers, 21-12, 21-18. The Huskies' top duo of senior Jessica Wooten and junior Aeriel Horton delivered with an 18-21, 21-13, 15-12 victory over Haley Tippett and Megan Nash to clinch the match. In the exhibition, freshmen Meagan Carter and Jordyn Miller fell to Kimberly Schnars and Stephanie Pollnow, 25-23, 21-16.

Against Ottawa International, Wooten and Horton took care of Caitlyn Cox and Adriana Skipper, 21-12, 21-16, and Hinojosa and Armer eased past Ayona Tharps and Heather Huesman, 21-8, 21-5. Banks and Silveira claimed the match at the three spot over Makayla Aspegren and Brooke Fearka, 21-10, 21-8, while Fluke and Brennan Miller routed Paige Krone and Mikayla Wheeler at four, 21-6, 21-3. Wheeler and Vivens finished off the sweep with a 21-9, 21-6 victory over Breanna Vail and Stefanie Mitchell.

The Huskies return to action when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the HRC Beach Courts on campus. HBU will celebrate National Student-Athlete Day and its Under Armour kickoff event, so join the Huskies for food, fun and giveaways at Wednesday's match.
