ABILENE, Texas - HBU softball fight to the end to top Abilene Christian in a close 2-1 win Saturday afternoon at Polly Wells Field.
Seniors
Kassie James and
Nicole Shedd went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Shedd hit her second home run of the series for the Huskies (5-17, 2-7 SLC). Othr contributors include sophomore

Kay Schroeder with a single, and Jaquez with a walk and a run scored.
Freshman
Jessica Patak (3-10, 2-4 SLC), earned the win as she held ACU to only one run off seven hits, two strikeouts, an error and a walk in seven innings.
Donelle Johnson went 2-for-4 with two doubles for the Wildcats (10-16, 4-5 SLC), while Braegan Hamilton recorded a single and an RBI.
Hannah Null (8-9) got the loss, allowing two runs off four hits, two errors, one walk and 10 strikeouts.
Shedd managed to break four innings of silence on her own with a home run out to the left field, putting the Huskies on the board first, 1-0.
The offense kept going in the sixth when Jaquez lead-off the inning with a walk. Brown put down a sacrifice bunt that advanced Jaquez to scoring position. Janak grounded out the third, but was able to move Jaquez over to third. With a runner on the third and two outs, James drove the ball down the left side, scoring Jaquez and extending the Huskies lead, 2-0.
Down to the final three outs, ACU sparked a comeback that to lead-off walk. Johnson followed with a double to right center putting the tying run on second. Hamilton sent a fly ball out to center for the second out, but pinch runner Briana Tijerina scored. The threat ended there as Holly Neese flied out to center, 2-1.
The Huskies remain on the road for thier next Southland Conference series at Incarnate Word Thursday, March 29 at 6 p.m., followed by a double header Saturday, March 30 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
