TAVARES, Florida – HBU went 1-4 over the weekend at the Stetson Hickory Point Lake Bash Friday and Saturday.
The Huskies (6-9) opened the event Friday with a 3-2 victory over New Mexico, with the number one tandem of senior

Brennan Miller got the Huskies on the board at number five by outlasting Emily Nenninger and Kayla Long, 21-15, 18-21, 16-14.
No. 20 Florida Atlantic swept HBU, 5-0. Jessalyn Kinlaw and Gabrielle Dischler handed Wooten and Horton their first straight-sets loss of the season, 22-20, 21-14, while Armer and Hinojosa were edged by Julia Lewkowicz and Carly Scarborough at number two, 23-21, 19-21, 15-13. Banks and Silveira bounced back from a first-set defeat, but were eventually clipped by Mackenzie Morris and Erica Brok at number three, 9-21, 21-15, 15-11. Jordyn Miller and
Meagan Carter at number four, 21-14, 21-9, while Amanda Silva and Kaila Dorish downed Fluke and
Brennan Miller, 21-14, 21-9, at number five. In the exhibition match, Wheeler and Vivens were defeated by Ashlan Cunningham and Brittany Pellitteri, 21-14, 21-19.
In their final match Friday, the Huskies were defeated by UNC Wilmington, 4-1. Maddy Kline and Nicole Lott slipped past Wooten and Horton, 21-19, 25-27, 16-14, while Halle Hunt and LM Lewandowski outlasted Vivens and Hinojosa, 21-18, 11-21, 15-11, at number two. Sarah Kelly and Raquel Rooney defeated Banks and Silveira, 21-16, 21-18, at number three, but HBU recorded its lone victory at number four, with Carter and
Jordyn Miller holding on against Katie McCullough and Brynn Montgomery, 21-19, 10-21, 15-11.
Brennan Miller and Fluke dropped a three-setter to Courtney Mullinax and Jaime Thomas at number five, 21-15, 19-21, 15-8.
In Saturday's first match, fourth-ranked Florida State topped HBU, 4-1. Wooten and Horton won at number one over Vanessa Freire and Sara Putt, 16-21, 21-14, 15-12. Armer and Hinojosa dropped the number two match, 21-15, 21-9, while Banks and Silveira fell to Brooke Kuhlman and Francesca Goncalves, 21-17, 21-10. Alaina Chacon and Tory Paranagua downed
Jordyn Miller and Carter, 21-14, 21-4, at four, while Molly McBain and Madison Fitzpatrick held off
Brennan Miller and Fluke, 21-15, 23-21, at five. Wheeler and Vivens claimed the exhibition match over Eva Torruella and Lauren Anderson, 21-19, 21-14.
In the finale against host Stetson, the Hatters escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Huskies. Quinci Birker and Rebecca Ingram started off with a 21-12, 21-12 win over
Brennan Miller and Fluke at five, then Julie Varga and Lauren Durham defeated Wheeler and Vivens, 21-10, 21-16, at four. In what proved to be the decisive match, Samantha Harris and Rachel Noble held off Banks and Silveira, 21-14, 17-21, 15-5. HBU then won at the top two spots, as Armer and Hinojosa took care of Sammee Thomas and Darby Dunn at two, 21-17, 21-14, then Wooten and Horton fought to a 22-20, 12-21, 15-10 victory at one over Carly Perales and Sunniva Helland-Hansen.
The Huskies return to action in a pair of match against Central Arkansas and Ottawa International Saturday in Conway, Arkansas.
HBU will hold a duel match on campus against Texas A&M-Kingsville Wednesday, March 28 at 2 p.m. on the new HRC Beach Courts. There will be many festivities around the match, as the Huskies will celebrate National Student-Athlete Day and will hold their Under Armour kickoff event.
