HOUSTON – On Saturday evening the HBU men's basketball program will honor seniors

Tim Myles for Senior Night prior to the start of the Huskies' game against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 7:00 p.m. inside Sharp Gym. Husky fans can listen to the Legacy Sports Network audio broadcast with Lonnie King providing play-by-play commentary, available at HBUHuskies.com.
In the first meeting between these two teams, HBU (6-24, 2-15 SLC) clawed back from a 21-point second half deficit to tie the game in the final minute of regulation and send it to overtime. In overtime, both teams went cold shooting the ball going a combined 1-of-15 but Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (10-17, 7-10 SLC) was sent to the free throw line 12 times compared to the Huskies two free throws in the extra five minutes, out-scoring HBU 12-2 in that span to win 79-69.
Junior
Braxton Bonds, who tallied five steals in the Huskies' loss this past Wednesday at Incarnate Word, now has 58 steals on the season which places him 37
th in all of NCAA Division I in that category. In his two seasons at HBU, he has now totaled 116 steals, which ties him for 15
th-most in program history.
The Huskies continue to be led by the freshman pairing of
David Caraher and
Ian DuBose with Caraher scoring 15.9 points and pulling down seven rebounds per game and DuBose adding 12.6 ppg and 5.6 rpg. HBU remains the top offensive rebounding team in the nation, averaging 15.33 boards on the offensive end per game.
The Islanders head into Saturday's game in a three-way tie for the final spot in the Southland Conference Tournament. Senior Joseph Kilgore is third in the SLC in scoring, averaging 17.6 ppg and is second on the team in rebounding with 5.6 board per game. Kareem South, a sophomore, is the only other AMCC player averaging double-digits, contributing 11.3 ppg. The Islanders are 3-11 away from home this season.
