RUSTON, La. – The HBU men's basketball team looks to even its record with a visit to the Thomas Assembly Center to face Louisiana Tech on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.. Fans can catch all the action via the DNA Husky Sports Network broadcast with Lonnie King available at HBUHuskies.com.
HBU (2-3) dropped its last outing to visiting UTSA, 86-86, with
Ian DuBose leading HBU behind a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds while freshman
Benjamin Uloko added a career-high 14 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting performance. As a team, the Huskies are shooting nearly 41 percent from the field and hold a +2.5 turnovers per game average over their opponents.
Junior
Jalon Gates has made 13 three-pointers so far this season, bringing his career total to 115. Gates is now just three away from entering the top-10 in HBU's all-time three-point field goals made list. Chad Hartley is the program's all-time leader in the category with 287 made threes. Another Husky making his way up HBU's all-time lists is senior
Braxton Bonds. Bonds is now 13
th all-time in assists with 277 for his career while his 124 total steals are tied for 13
th on the all-time list.
Louisiana Tech (4-3) is coming off a pair of losses at the Delaware Invitational, falling to UNC Greensboro, 80-73, and the host Blue Hens, 75-71. The Bulldogs are led by a trio of sophomore guards with Anthony Duruji, Exavian Christon and Amorie Archibald all averaging between 11 and 12 points per game. Oliver Powell, a junior, is adding 10 points a game and is Louisiana Tech's top rebounder with an average of 6.7 boards per game. The Bulldogs hosted fellow Southland Conference member Sam Houston State earlier in the season, defeating the Bearkats 76-69.
HBU will have a week off before staying in state for a trip to San Marcos, Texas to take on Texas State at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, in a rematch from last season's 71-52 Husky win inside Sharp Gym.
