MBB: HBU Returns Home to Face the Roadrunners

The Huskies will aim to avenge a road loss at UTSA last season

HOUSTON – Following its road win at ACC opponent Wake Forest on Black Friday, the HBU men's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Sharp Gym to host UTSA for a Monday night matchup at 7:00 p.m. Fans can catch all the action via the DNA Husky Sports Network broadcast with Lonnie King available at HBUHuskies.com.
 
The Huskies (2-2) continue to be led in scoring by sophomore Ian DuBose who is averaging 15.8 points per game for the season but over the last three games that number jumps to 19.7 ppg. DuBose is currently shooting at a 60 percent (9-of-15) clip from three-point range. Junior Jalon Gates is adding 12.5 ppg off the bench and has already knocked down 12 treys for the season. As a team, the Huskies have forced opponents into 63 turnovers while committing 53.
 
In the win over Wake Forest, Gates led HBU with 20 points in the game while DuBose scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half and overtime. Edward Hardt matched his career-high 17 points while freshman Benjamin Uloko added a career-best nine points. Seniors Braxton Bonds and Stephen O'Suji had five and four assists, respectively.
 
UTSA (1-5) comes into the game after earning its first win of the season over Florida Gulf Coast, 75-65, on Wednesday, Nov. 21. The Roadrunners got a boost at the Gulf Coast Showcase with the return of last season's Conference USA Freshman of the Year, Jhivvan Jackson. Keaton Wallace, also a sophomore, leads the team with 17 ppg while Jackson is adding 13.7 ppg in his three games played. Nick Allen, a senior forward, is scoring 10.5 ppg while junior Byron Frohnen leads the way in rebounds with 7.8 per outing. The Roadrunners are averaging 69 points per game with opponents averaging just over 79 per game.
 
HBU owns a 5-4 all-time advantage against UTSA but the Roadrunners defeated the Huskies 87-71 in San Antonio. Prior to that, the eight other meetings between the two teams came during the 1980's with a number of coming when both were members of the Trans Atlantic Athletic Conference.
 
The Huskies will be on the road for their next two games following the game against UTSA with visits to Louisiana Tech on Saturday, Dec. 1, in Ruston, La. and Texas State on Saturday, Dec. 8, in San Marcos.
