COLLEGE STATION – Fifteenth-ranked Texas A&M went ahead with a four-run second inning en route to an 8-2 victory over HBU in the Huskies' final non-conference game of the season Tuesday night at Blue Bell Park.
Senior catcher
Blake Thomas went 2-for-4 with a double and scored a run for the Huskies (22-18), while senior rightfielder
Brandon Brintz doubled and drove in a run. Junior first baseman
Jake Pulcheon reached safely three times, going 1-for-2 with a hit by pitch and a walk.
Senior lefthander
Ivan Smith (0-2) took the loss for HBU, giving up five runs on five hits with two walks in 2.1 innings. Senior righthander
JT Jakubik had allowed only one run through 4.2 innings of relief, but allowed two more when he ran into trouble in the eighth.
Hunter Coleman went 3-for-3 with a home run and scored three times for the Aggies (33-13), while Joel Davis went 2-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and two runs. Austin Homan went 2-for-4 with a double, drove in a pair and scored one, while George Janca scored twice.
Turner Larkins (1-1) picked up the win, allowing one unearned run on four hits with three strikeouts and two walks in 5.2 innings.
The Huskies return to action when they face New Orleans in a three-game Southland Conference series Friday through Sunday in New Orleans. HBU's last nine games are all conference contests.
