HOUSTON – Having won its first Southland Conference series last weekend, and four of five overall, the HBU softball team will look to keep the momentum rolling as they host Southeastern Louisiana for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday, April 7-8, at Husky Field.

HBU (11-17, 2-10 SLC) has taken advantage of solid pitching, especially from junior Stephanie Buenrostro, over the last five games to win the last two non-conference games and two out of three in last weekend's series against Incarnate Word.

Buenrostro is 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA in her last three appearances with one of those a start. The junior has scattered 12 hits over 14 innings but allowed just a single run while holding opponents to a .245 batting average. As a team, the Huskies have posted a 2.08 ERA over the last five games.

Brooke Bushman has been wielding a hot bat for the Huskies, going 6-of-11 for a .545 average with a slugging percentage of .818. Kassie James is 5-of-9 with three RBI and a run scored while Kay Schroeder is batting .385 over the last five games with a pair of runs scored and two RBI.

Senior Cecilia Bauer continues to pace HBU with a .338 season batting average while freshman Heidi Jaquez leads the team in runs scored (16), RBI (15) and triples (3) while tied for the team lead in doubles (6).

So far this season, every Southland series Southeastern Louisiana (17-18, 6-6 SLC) has played in has ended in a sweep. The Lions dropped all three games in road series against Abilene Christian and Nicholls while recording home sweeps against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Lamar.

Jaquelyn Ramon, a sophomore, comes into the weekend leading the league with 31 stolen bases while Maddie Edmonston is second in the Southland with 22 steals. Ramon's average of 0.89 steals per game is good for the eighth-best mark in the nation. She also leads the Lions with 22 runs scored. Junior Kalyn Watts boasts a team-high .495 slugging percentage and five home runs.

Southeastern Louisiana owns a team ERA of 3.33 with Lacy Hill and Rachel Hayes earning a majority of the team's starts in the circle. Hill owns a 7-6 record to go with a 2.67 ERA while Hayes boasts a 2.79 ERA and a 6-6 win-loss record.

As always, Husky fans can catch all the action live with Bill Cousins providing play-by-play on the Legacy Sports Network. Every broadcast can be found at www.HBUHuskies.com.

Following this weekend's series, HBU will travel to Prairie View, Texas for a doubleheader with Prairie View A&M on Tuesday, April 11, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
