CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – HBU opens its three-game Southland Conference series against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with a doubleheader on Friday at Chapman Field.

HBU (13-21, 4-14 SLC) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (8-28, 2-13) will look to complete a full three-game series for the first time since the 2014 season thanks to rain-outs in the previous two seasons cutting the series to just two games. Last year, the two teams split a pair of games at Husky Field with the Islanders winning an eight-inning affair, 1-0, and the Huskies taking the second game, 5-2.

The Huskies dropped two-of-three last weekend at Stephen F. Austin in three games that were all decided by two runs. Senior Cecilia Bauer narrowly missed out on hitting for the cycle in an 8-6 loss, connecting for a double, triple and home run in her first three at-bats. Bauer drove in three runs in the loss and scored twice. Emily Mueller threw 13 innings in the circle for the series, allowing just two earned runs on nine hits for a 1.08 ERA on the weekend.

HBU boasts four players batting at least .300 with Bauer leading the team at .333. Kassie James is tops on the roster with 19 runs batted in with a .321 average while Heidi Jaquez sits at .310 with seven doubles and three triples. Libby Brown is leading the team with 19 runs scored, with 10 of those coming in conference play.

The Islanders come into the series having split their last four games. Most recently, they earned a 5-0 home victory over UTSA after dropping two-of-three at Sam Houston State. TAMUCC relies heavily on the arm of senior Liz Carter who is fourth in the conference in innings pitched (141.1) and third in strikeouts (122). Offensively, the Islanders own a team batting average of just .193 with 50 total runs scored for the season.

As always, Husky fans can catch all the action live with Bill Cousins providing play-by-play on the Legacy Sports Network. Every broadcast can be found at www.HBUHuskies.com.

HBU returns to Husky Field to host a series with Northwestern State beginning on Friday, April 28 with a doubleheader slated to start at 1:00 p.m. and a single game on Saturday, April 29, at 12:00 p.m.
