PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - HBU will play its next four games on the road, beginning with a non-conference contest against Prairie View A&M Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Tankersley Field.
Senior second baseman
Greg Espinosa is hitting .308 with nine doubles, a triple, 15 RBIs and 23 runs, while senior shortstop
Louie Payetta is hitting .304 with eight doubles, 20 RBIs and 20 runs. Senior first baseman
Andrew Alvarez is hitting .298 with seven doubles, two triples, a home run, 14 RBIs and 11 runs for the Huskies (18-20).
Senior righthander
Brody Toal (0-1, 3.22) will likely get the start for HBU.
Darrien Williams leads the Panthers (10-24) with a .349 batting average, five doubles, two triples, three home runs, eight RBIs and 15 runs, while Shannon Washington is hitting .338 with four doubles, four triples, three home runs, 26 RBIs and 14 runs. Angel Avalos is hitting .299 with six doubles, four home runs, 25 RBIs and 25 runs.
HBU leads the all-time series against PVAM, 28-6, and won this season's previous meeting in Houston, 5-3, on March 29. The Huskies needed a five-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning to come from behind to edge the Panthers.
The Huskies return to Southland Conference play this weekend against league leader Southeastern Louisiana at Pat Kennelly Diamond at Alumni Field in Hammond, Louisiana. Friday's opener begins at 6 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. start Saturday and a 1 p.m. first pitch in the finale Sunday.
