HBU Huskies (3-1) at LA Tech Invitational

Feb. 19-20Lady Techster Softball Complex • Ruston, La.Tournament Information | Live Audio RUSTON, La. – The HBU softball team will look to continue their strong start to the 2016 season, participating in the LA Tech Invitational across Feb. 19-20 at Lady Techster Softball Complex. The Huskies will face host Louisiana Tech and fellow participants Belmont, Mississippi Valley State and Texas State.
HBU will play the first two games of the tournament on Friday, facing TSU at 9:15 a.m. and MVSU at 11:15 a.m. On Saturday, the Huskies will close the day with the final two games, seeing LA Tech at 6 p.m. and Belmont at 8 p.m. HBU is a combined 2-6 against the tournament field – LA Tech (2-2), TSU (0-4).

The Huskies are coming off a 3-1 showing in their season-opening tournament last week at the Sand Dollar Classic in Gulf Shores, Alabama. HBU defeated Jackson State (3-1), Samford (2-1) and Florida A&M (7-1), dropping a slugfest with Southeast Missouri State (10-7).
Senior pitcher
Laci Belovsky posted a 2-0 record with one save and a 0.98 ERA across four games. The native of Conroe, Texas, went the distance for HBU against both JSU and FAMU, also logging the final three innings against Samford to record the first save for the Huskies since 2014.
At the plate, freshman shortstop
Savana Guidry posted a .429/.500/.467 slash in the tournament. Guidry recorded three multi-hit performances and accounted for four runs scored, adding one double, walk and RBI. HBU's Belovsky (1),
Caitlin Gunn (1),
Demi Janak (1) and
Erica Reyes all hit home runs. Janak's was a grand slam.
Following the weekend, the Huskies will play their home opener with a three-game series with Prairie View A&M across Feb. 26-27 at Husky Field.
