HOUSTON – HBU senior offensive lineman
Hunter Barron has been selected CoSIDA Academic All-District 7, as voted on by the region's sports information directors and released by the organization Thursday.
The Montgomery, Texas, native has started all 30 games in the Huskies' three-year history. Barron has spent most of his time at left tackle, and has helped HBU rank fourth in the Southland Conference and 32
nd nationally with 182.5 rushing yards per game. Last year, he earned Academic All-Southland Conference honors. Barron has posted a 3.80 GPA as an accounting major, while simultaneously earning credit towards his Master's degree.
All-District selections are now eligible for Academic All-America honors. CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions.
The Huskies return to action with an FBS matchup against UTEP Saturday at 7 p.m. CDT at the Sun Bowl in El Paso.
