HOUSTON – HBU took care of business against visiting Ecclesia on Tuesday night, winning by a score of 116-80 in men's basketball action at Sharp Gym.

The Huskies got out to an early 10-2 lead following a Braxton Bonds steal and fast break dunk. Following an Ecclesia timeout, the Royals managed to cut the lead to five at 18-13 but HBU answered with the next six points and took an 11-point lead. Ecclesia was able to keep things relatively close throughout much of the first half with a pair of David Gaut, Jr. free throws making it a nine-point game with 4:40 remaining in the half. HBU, however, closed out the stanza by outscoring the Royals 18-11 for a 56-40 halftime lead.

Senior Colter Lasher took control at the start of the second half, scoring the first seven points for HBU and pushing the lead to 20-plus for the rest of the game. Midway through the half, HBU put together a 15-0 run capped by Asa Cantwell and Alex Fountain combining to knock down three straight three-pointers to put the game firmly out of reach with just 9:02 to go.

Lasher was the Huskies high-scorer, finishing the night with 19 points on 8-12 shooting from the floor, including 3-5 from deep. The senior did most of his damage in the second half, hitting 5-5 for 13 points in just seven minutes on the floor. Fountain, another senior, connected on 5-8 from the field and 4-6 from three en route to a career-high 18 points.

Josh Ibarra finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Cantwell finished 4-5 from three for 12 points while Atif Russell added 11. Bonds led the Huskies with five assists to go with a nine-point effort and a pair of steals.

Gaut, Jr. was the game's leading scorer with 28 points thanks to 8-13 shooting, including 7-11 from beyond the arc. Dequcelan Bagsby added 11 points and six assists for the Royals. Ecclesia shot 42.9 percent for the game and 45.5 percent from three.

As a team, the Huskies were 51.3 percent from the field, 48.3 percent from long distance and 80 percent from the charity stripe. HBU enjoyed a 47-33 advantage on the boards and outscored Ecclesia 48-20 in the paint. The Huskies also harried the Royals into 17 turnovers while committing just six themselves.

HBU's 116 points were the most by the team since the 2011-12 season when they picked up a 123-43 victory over Crowley's Ridge. The program's all-time record for most points in a single game is 148, achieved against Paul Quinn during the 2001-02 season.

HBU will hit the road for its next game with the Huskies visiting Marquette this coming Saturday, November 26, in Milwaukee, Wisc. at 6:30 p.m. with the game set for broadcast on FS2.
