HEAD COACH VIC SHEALY QUOTES
On bye week: "Having a bye week in November is kind of an unusual thing -- the first one I've ever dealt with -- so it's kind of different from having one early in the year where you can still work on the fundamental part. We spent most of the week trying to get healthy -- we feel like we've got most of the guys back more healthy or completely healthy, so hopefully we can go into this week a little more on top of our ability to play well. I think psychologically we hit a little skid there and probably played our weakest game of the year against Lamar, so coming off that bye week I think it got us back a little bit psychologically also."
On Stephen F. Austin: "Coach Conque and the job he's done to pull their season back, I think early on their schedule was tough and playing on the road early on in the conference. When you look at how he's brought that team back and you see a lot of plays they're making against good people, it certainly reminds you they are still one of the teams in this league you better be able to find a way to beat them if you're going to be competitive. I'm sure the game they had last week against Central Arkansas didn't go the way they wanted, but you look at them and see the balance on offense, just how physical they are and the plays they're making on defense and you come away really impressed. It's an opportunity for us to play a team that will challenge us in ways we need to be challenged to improve and grow and get to a point where we can line up and feel confident in winning."
On linebackers: "From a health standpoint, we get a little help on the back end. Both of our safeties have been out and will get one or perhaps both of them back this week, so we're capable of playing two-deep at that position. At linebacker we had gotten kind of beat up, where we were playing, but not really playing healthy. By the time you get to October, rarely does a linebacker play healthy, but I think it helped us.
Garrett Dolan is such a good leader and he's good at the point of attack and I think we've seen a lot of improvement in
Dorrin Turner and
Cody Moncure -- we've seen consistent growth at that position. We have great hope in the future at that position."
