FOX Sports SW to Become Football's Official Broadcaster

Network to live webcast, replay four of Huskies’ home games.

FOX Sports Southwest will broadcast four of HBU's home football games this season.
HOUSTON – HBU and FOX Sports Southwest (FSSW) have reached an agreement for the regional sports network to live webcast and replay the broadcasts on FSSW for four of the Huskies' home football games this season, HBU Director of Athletics Steve Moniaci announced Saturday.

"Our partnership with FOX Sports Southwest is a major step forward for our football program," Moniaci said. "This relationship will help spread the HBU brand and mission across a highly respected, first-class network."

FSSW will carry HBU's home games against McMurry (Sept. 6), Abilene Christian (Sept. 27), Stephen F. Austin (Oct. 18), and Sam Houston State (Nov. 15), and also has the option to broadcast several road games. The Huskies' Oct. 25 Homecoming game against Nicholls and Nov. 1 game at Lamar will both be shown on ESPN3.

HBU is the only institution in the Southland Conference to reach an agreement with a regional network to have all of its home games broadcast. The games will be streamed live on FOXSportsSouthwest.com and replayed later on FOX Sports Southwest, which reaches over 10 million television homes in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.

"We're excited about our partnership with HBU," said FOX Sports Southwest Senior Vice President and General Manager Jon Heidtke. "We look forward to helping HBU broaden its exposure by showcasing a great lineup of football games across the region."

HBU football broadcasts will be produced by Jim Barton and Legacy Sports Network (LSN). LSN has become a leader in the production and presentation of live and recorded sporting events, and has worked with FSSW on the Texas High School Coaches Association football and basketball games, as well as the UIL state championships for baseball and softball, and several other events.

Former Houston Astros play-by-play announcer Brett Dolan will serve in the same capacity for the FSSW broadcasts, while Jeff Power will provide the color commentary. Tom Franklin, who was the Houston Oilers play-by-play announcer from 1990-94, will call the play-by-play for the opening game against McMurry. Lonnie King will continue to handle the play-by-play duties for all of the Huskies' Legacy Sports Network audio broadcasts.
