Softball Closes Road Trip With Twinbill at PVAMU

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – HBU concludes a five-game road trip with a doubleheader at Prairie View A&M Wednesday at PVAMU Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for a 2 pm start.

HBU leads the all-time series, 41-2. The two teams were scheduled to play a twinbill at Husky Field earlier this season, but was postponed due to rain. In the last meeting between the two teams, last season, HBU swept a home doubleheader, 6-0 and 14-4 in five innings.

HBU (11-20) was swept at Lamar last weekend, despite outhitting the Lady Cardinals in two of the three games. Lauren Schwirtlich hit .600 in the series, as she hit her first homer of the season in game one Saturday and tied a career high with three hits in game two.
 
L. Schwirtlich leads the Huskies on the season with a .407 batting average, as she has gone 44-for-108 at the plate.  She is on a 12-game hitting streak. Shay Orsak is hitting .394 with 12 doubles and is tied with Melissa Herman with 20 RBI. Kirsten Schwirtlich leads the team with 24 RBI and is tied with Herman with five home runs.
 
Emily Mueller leads the trio of pitchers with a 3.03 ERA, as she is 6-6 with a team-high seven complete games. She has struck out 28 batters and walked 36. Kendall Stiefel has struck out a team-high 53 opponents.

Prairie View A&M (7-18) lost a doubleheader at UH-Victoria Tuesday afternoon by scores of 5-0 and 13-6. The Lady Jaguars are the 19th-ranked team in the NAIA.
 
Brenicia Woods leads PVAMU with a .411 batting average, as she has gone 30-for-75 at the plate. Alisa Navarro leads the team with five doubles and 22 RBI. She is hitting .338.
 
The Lady Panthers have used seven different pitchers. Olivia Lacewell leads the team with a 5.32 ERA, as she is 1-1 with two complete games and one shutout. Cally Falls has staff highs of 12 appearances, three shutouts, and 38 strikeouts.

After the doubleheader at PVAMU, the Huskies return to Southland Conference play to host Sam Houston State for a three-game series Saturday and Sunday, April 12 and 13. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1 pm, while Sunday's single game starts at 2 pm.
