HOUSTON – 
Melissa Herman hit a 1-0 pitch to deep left field for a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh to give HBU a come-from-behind 9-8 win over Northwestern State Sunday afternoon from Husky Field.
The win was HBU's (5-12 overall, 1-2 SLC) first ever over the Lady Demons (10-10 overall, 2-1 SLC) on the diamond. HBU scored seven unanswered runs, including a six-run fifth inning, to erase an 8-2 deficit.
Lauren Schwirtlich, 
Kirsten Schwirtlich, Herman, 
Alyssa Burnett, and 
Daniella Rodarte each had two hits for the Huskies. Burnett had a career-high four RBI.
Shannon O'Connor (1-4) earned her first win on the season in the circle, as she pitched 2.2 scoreless innings. She allowed two hits and two walks with three strikeouts. 
Emily Mueller started the game and did not register an out after facing three batters. 
Kendall Stiefel pitched 4.1 innings of middle relief and allowed six hits, five runs, and one walk with two strikeouts.
Tara McKenney, Cali Burke, Brittany Virgoe, and Kellye Kincannon had two hits apiece for the Lady Demons, with Brianna Rodriguez recording a team-best three RBI.
Shelby Sells (3-4), who came in for the final 1.1 inning, took the loss as she allowed four hits and three runs. Skylar Cagle started and pitched 4.0 innings, as she allowed four hits, two runs, and one walk with one strikeout. Baylee Gray relieved Cagle and allowed three hits, four runs, and one walk with one strikeout in just two-thirds of an inning.
NWST jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning, as McKenney led off the game with a walk, Burke hit a bunt single, then both runners came home with Rodriguez's homer to left field.
The Lady Demons added single runs in the top of the second and third to give them a 5-0 lead, on solo shots by Kincannon and Virgoe.
HBU got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, as K. Schwirtlich scored on a wild pitch and Burnett hit an RBI single that scored 
Cecilia Bauer.
The Lady Demons had a three-run top of the fifth, with a two-run homer by Cassandra Barefield and an RBI single by Kincannon.
With Gray now in the circle for NWST entering the bottom of the fifth, the Huskies made their comeback, as K. Schwirtlich got things going with a two-run single to left-center. Bauer hit an RBI single that brought home K. Schwirtlich, to make the score 8-5. With Bauer at first and Herman at third, Burnett tied the game at 8-all with a three-run blast to right field. NWST stopped the bleeding with a flyout.
In both the top of the sixth and seventh innings, NWST had a lead-off base runner, but both times, HBU got out of the jams unscathed. Herman led off the bottom of the seventh and ended it with one swing.
HBU hits the road to play McNeese State for a three-game set, beginning with a doubleheader Wednesday, March 12 at 5 pm. Thursday's single game begins at 5 pm.
