Biography

2014 All-Southland Conference First Team

2014 (Freshman):
Played in 42 games with 41 starts...led HBU's freshmen with a .333 batting average, as she had 39 hits, eight doubles, two triples, five home runs, 28 RBI, and 17 runs scored...went 2-for-3 with a career-high four RBI against Northwestern State (3/9)...had seven, 2-hit games and two, 3-hit contests...recorded six multi-RBI games...she hit three game-winning home runs, one in walk-off fashion: her homer was the only run in a 1-0 win over Stephen F. Austin in the first game of a doubleheader (3/29), then followed that with a walk-off three-run blast in game two...she later hit a solo shot in the top of the eighth at Univ. of Houston (4/23) to give the Huskies a 6-5 win, the first over the Cougars in program history...had an eight-game hitting streak from March 13-29...hit .292 with 21 hits, seven doubles, two triples, three homers, 17 RBI, and 10 runs scored in conference play...named First Team All-Conference and Southland Conference Spring Honor Roll.

Before HBU: Attended the University of Pittsburgh in the fall of 2012 before transferring to Lamar University in January, 2013...appeared in one game for Lamar...was a member of the 2013 Southland Conference Honor Roll.

High School: Played softball at Katy High School for head coach Kalum Haack before transferring to Brenham High School for her junior and senior seasons for head coaches Wade Wilson and Wade Womack...earned Texas Girls Coaching Association and Texas Sports Writers Association 4A All-State accolades...was a Region 17-4A First Team All-District selection as a junior and senior, being named a First Team All-Greater Houston selection both years...helped lead Brenham to a share of the Region 17-4A title as a senior, batting .525 and earning Region 17-4A Offensive Player of the Year honors...was named Brenham's Offensive MVP both seasons...holds the Brenham High School record with a 27-game hitting streak...finished senior year leading the district in all but one batting categories...is the Brenham record holder with 58 RBI in her junior season...helped lead Katy to consecutive Bi-District crowns in her two seasons and earned Region 17-5A First Team honors both years...was the only freshman to receive All-District honors of any type...named Academic All-District all four years and Academic All-State on two occasions... in her high school career, she hit .562 with 67 doubles, 17 triples, and 178 RBI...inducted into the National Honor Society, was a USAA Honor Roll Recipient, and graduated cum laude...played club for the Austin Storm Gold and head coach Phil Koehler, and the Houston Power Gold and head coach John Glowacz.

Personal: Full name is Alyssa Rae Burnett...an elementary ed/special ed major...born Nov. 1, 1993 in Lawrenceville, Ga...daughter of George and Carol Burnett....has two brothers, Troy and Wyatt...Troy is a senior at the University of Houston and Wyatt is an Air Force recruit...enjoys spending time with family, anything Batman, and watching the Texas Rangers.
