BEAUMONT, Texas – Freshman forward Ellee Hall scored a goal in each half, as third-seed HBU snapped top-seed Stephen F. Austin's 14-match winning streak Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 victory, as the Huskies won the 2014 Southland Conference championship and earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The NCAA appearance is the first ever for an HBU women's program and marks the first time an HBU team made the NCAA Tournament since men's golf won the 2013 America Sky Conference Tournament and earned the automatic bid.

"This is fantastic and something you dream about, going to the NCAA Tournament," said HBU head coach Misty Jones. "These girls have risen above and beyond and I'm so proud of them. It's an honor to win the championship and bring this home to the University."

Hall and Natalie Hager each took a match-high five shots for HBU (10-6-5), who are now unbeaten in its last 10 matches (8-0-2). Hall had three shots on goal. Hager and Blake Martin registered assists.

Walrath earned her sixth shutout of the season as she made nine saves. She is tied for the program record of 11 career shutouts, set by Shelby Horn (2010-13). Walrath earned Tournament MVP honors after going 2-0-1 with a 0.58 goals-against average, a .929 save percentage, and one shutout. She had the huge save in Friday night's penalty kicks against Sam Houston State in the semifinals.

Chelsea Raymond had four shots for SFA (16-3-1), while Megan Dunnigan and Amanda Doyle had two shots on goal apiece.

Morgan Glick made nine saves in goal. The two goals allowed were the most since giving up four to No. 25 Arkansas Aug. 31 and was the first time the Ladyjacks were shut out since a 0-0 tie at LSU Sept. 8.

HBU set the tone early, as Hall gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead just nine minutes into the match, as Martin sent a pass and Hall fired a shot past Glick.

"The early goal was huge because SFA is a scoring force and is very difficult to keep out of the back of the net, so a shutout against them is huge," said Jones. "We had SFA chasing, which was a huge advantage for us."

SFA almost tied the match four minutes later, as Hailey Hunt rocketed a shot off the cross bar.

SFA outshot HBU, 11-6, in the first half and had a slim 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

HBU maintained the pressure to start the second half and the hard work paid off, as Hall gave the Huskies a huge 2-0 lead in the 53rd minute, assisted by Hager. Hager sent a cross pass that Hall scored past Glick.

In a five-minute span, the Ladyjacks had four shots, but only one hit the target, that was saved by Walrath.

In the 76th minute, SFA's Christa Robinson received a red card, as the Ladyjacks played short the final 14 minutes of regulation.

SFA outshot HBU, 14-12, in the second half and 25-18 in the match. HBU had three of the four second-half corner kicks and had a 5-4 advantage for the match.
