HOUSTON – HBU head softball coach,
Mary-Ellen Hall, and assistant coach,
Roger Willhite, are proud to announce five student-athletes who have signed National Letters of Intent to play softball at HBU in 2016.
Coming to HBU next fall are pitcher/utility Brooke Bushman, infielder/outfielder Jazlyn "Jazz" Crowder, short stop Savana Guidry, second baseman Demi Janak, and pitcher Hannah Wilson.
Bushman, a native of Missouri City, Texas, enters her senior year a three-year letterwinner and starter in softball at Ridge Point High School for head coach James McClanahan. She is a three-time Academic All-District honoree and has also earned the Academic Excellence Award all three years. Bushman played club for the Texas Magic and head coaches Rabitt Blake and Ken Glass.
The daughter of Gary and Sandra, Bushman plans to major in mathematics at HBU.
Crowder is a native of Kennedale, Texas and enters her senior year a three-year letterwinner and starter at Kennedale High School for head coach Chris Reve. She earned First Team All-District honors and was also named MVP, Newcomer of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year. She played club for the Texas Firecrackers and head coach Martin Poole.
The daughter of Demetrius and Christy, Crowder plans to major in psychology at HBU.
Guidry, who hails from Nederland, Texas, enters her senior year a three-year letterwinner and starter at Nederland High School and head coach William Mallette. She hit .450 last season as a junior and has earned Newcomer of the Year and First Team awards. Guidry is a member of both the National and Spanish Honor Societies. She played club for the Texas Storm and for head coach Joe Whymer, where she hit .500.
The daughter of Jeff and Angie, Guidry plans to study accounting at HBU.
Janak, a native of Spring, Texas, enters her senior season a three-year letterwinner and starter for head coach Rosemary Rhodes at Klein Collins High School. She hit .446 last season as a junior and earned First Team Infield that season. As a freshman in 2012, Janak was named Freshman of the Year and was a State Finalist. She is currently in the Top 2% of her senior class. Janak plays club for the Texas Magic and coaches Ken Glass and Rabitt Blake.
The daughter of Brian and Evon, Janak plans to major in accounting at HBU.
Wilson is a native of Portland, Texas. Entering her senior season, she is a three-year letterwinner and starter at Gregory-Portland High School for head coach Felicia Talamantez. She played club for the South Texas Bombers Gold Elite and head coach Ed Zarzabal.
The daughter of Lloyd and Lori, Wilson plans to major in marketing at HBU.
