Donavan Williams carried 13 times for 212 yards and three touchdowns on runs of 80, 24 and 56 yards for SHSU (7-4, 6-1). Cory Idlebird had 138 yards on 14 carries and scored twice, the second one coming on a 59-yard run. Jalen Overstreet had eight carries for 130 yards and a pair of touchdowns on runs of 38 and 48 yards. Jared Johnson completed 6-of-10 passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns, while Don King III completed 8-of-12 passes for 121 yards. Kiel Heidman led SHSU with nine tackles, while Trenier Orr and Alfonzo McMillian each had an interception.
SHSU opened the scoring when Johnson threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Gerald Thomas, and he also later added a 12-yard pass to LaDarius Brown for a score. Overstreet had two touchdowns in the first quarter, and Williams' 80-yard run put the Bearkats ahead, 35-0, at the end of the first.
Williams had two more touchdowns in the second and Luc Swimburghe added a pair of field goals from 35 and 27 yards, respectively, as SHSU led 55-0 at the half.
Idlebird scored on a two-yard run in the third, the De'Chaar Greer had an 11-yard touchdown run, before Idlebird capped the game's scoring with a 59-yard run.
HBU closed out its first official season in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and the Southland Conference.
