Match NotesLive StatsHOUSTON – The HBU women's soccer team concludes a four-game home stand Sunday, Oct. 12 against Incarnate Word in a Southland Conference matchup. Kick-off is set for a 1 pm start at Sorrels Field.
HBU won the inaugural meeting last season, 2-1, in San Antonio.
Rebekah Tovar had a three-point match, including the game winner in the 89
th minute.
HBU (3-6-3 overall, 2-1-2 SLC) split last weekend, falling to preseason favorite, Stephen F. Austin, 2-0, Friday night, then rallying for a 2-1 overtime victory over McNeese State Sunday afternoon.
Natalie Hager scored the golden goal against the Cowgirls in the 99th minute.
Kristi O'Brien leads the team with four goals and eight points, followed by Hager with three tallies and six points. Tovar has a team-leading two assists.
Patty Walrath has seen most of the action in goal and is 3-5-2 with a 1.21 goals-against average, a .787 save percentage, and two shutouts. She has made 48 saves in 967 minutes. Walrath is third in the conference in GAA and seventh in save percentage. She is ranked fourth in the conference with 4.80 saves per game.
Incarnate Word (1-10-1 overall, 1-3-1 SLC) earned its first win of the season as the Cardinals knocked off Central Arkansas, 1-0, Oct. 5. The Cardinals continued the momentum, as they earned a point with a 1-1 double overtime tie at home against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday night.
Sarah Johnson leads the team with three goals and seven points, as she has taken 32 shots and 19 shots on goal. Alexis Santos has two goals and five points.
Karly Blackwell has seen most of the action in goal, but Heather Kowalik has seen more action recently. Kowalik is 1-2-1 with a 1.75 GAA, a .774 save percentage and one shutout. She has made 24 saves in 360 minutes. Blackwell is 0-7-0 with a 3.27 GAA and a .600 save percentage. She has made 27 saves in 495 minutes.
After Sunday's match, HBU begins a four-match road trip next Sunday, Oct. 19 at Central Arkansas.
