Men's Hoops Takes On McNeese St. Saturday on ESPN3

Huskies try to bounce back after Thursday’s heartbreaker.

Sophomore guard Rob Lewis, HBU's leading scorer at 12.6 points per game, leads the Huskies against McNeese State Saturday at 3 p.m. in Lake Charles, La. on ESPN3.

LAKE CHARLES, La. - HBU looks to rebound from Thursday's tough loss to Nicholls State when it travels to face McNeese State in Southland Conference basketball Saturday at 3 p.m. at Burton Coliseum. The game will be shown live on ESPN3 and the Huskies' audio broadcast is available on HBUHuskies.com.
 
The Huskies (4-13, 1-4 SLC) are led by sophomore guard Rob Lewis, who is averaging 12.6 points per game primarily off the bench. Junior guard Tyler Russell adds 10.8 points per game, and sophomore forward Cody Joyce is posting 9.8 points per game. Sophomore forward Dauson Womack leads HBU on the glass with 5.3 rebounds, with junior center Ricmonds Vilde pulling down 5.0 boards per contest. Junior guard Marcel Smith lead the team with 49 assists.
 
The Cowboys (5-12, 3-2) are led by Ledrick Eackles' 14.9 points per game, Kevin Hardy averages 11.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, and Desharick Guidry adds 11.0 points per game and leads McNeese State with 7.0 rebounds per game. Hardy also leads the Cowboys with 59 assists and 16 blocked shots.
 
HBU dropped a 66-64 decision to Nicholls State Thursday. The Huskies overcame a 14-point deficit to take the lead late, but were turned back by the Colonels short jumper with two seconds left. Lewis led the Huskies with 18 points, while Russell had 16 and freshman forward Alex Fountain came off the bench for a career-high 13.
 
McNeese State fell to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Thursday, 77-61. Guidry was the only Cowboy in double figures with 11 points.
 
McNeese State leads the all-time series against HBU, 12-2, and won the last meeting between the two schools, 60-56, on Nov. 28, 1988 in Houston.
 
The Huskies return home to host New Orleans Thursday, followed by Southeastern Louisiana Saturday, with both games starting at 7:30 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
