HOUSTON – HBU women's soccer hosts their first-ever Southland Conference match Friday evening when the Huskies welcome Northwestern State to Sorrels Field Friday evening as part of Family Weekend. Kick-off is set for a 7 pm start. The Huskies will then travel to I-10 east to Beaumont, Texas, to play Lamar on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 1 pm.
HBU leads the all-time series against NSU, 2-0-0. The Huskies defeated the Lady Demons, 3-1, in Natchitoches, La., on Sept. 7, 2012.
Natalie Hager scored two goals for HBU.
HBU leads the series against Lamar, 1-0-2. The two teams battled to a 1-1 double overtime tie last season in Beaumont.
Lindsay Matlock scored the Huskies' goal.
HBU (1-6-1, 0-1-0 SLC) played in its first Southland Conference match, but lost 1-0 at Abilene Christian on Sept. 22. The only goal came in the ninth minute.
Rebekah Tovar leads the Huskies with two goals and four points.
Stephanie Castellon has a 1-3-1 record, a 0.89 GAA, a .880 save percentage, and two shutouts. She is ranked 96th in the nation in goals-against average.
Northwestern State (2-6-1, 0-1-1 SLC) battled visiting Lamar to a scoreless, double overtime stalemate on Sept. 24. Ashlee Savona led the Lady Demons with six shots. Jessica Danku made nine saves in goal.
On the season, Brooke Eastburg and Johanna Sigvardsson lead the Lady Demons with four points. Eastburg leads the team with two goals. Between the pipes, Danku is 1-4-1 with a 2.30 GAA, a .775 save percentage, and two shutouts.
Lamar's record went to 3-5-1 and 0-1-1 in the conference after a 0-0 double overtime tie at Northwestern State Tuesday night. Kristin Bos led the Cardinals with seven shots, while Bailey Fontenot made nine saves in goal.
Prior to hosting HBU Sunday afternoon, Lamar welcomes Stephen F. Austin Friday evening.
On the season, Kimmy Albeno leads the Cardinals with five goals and 11 points, while Jennifer Yacuta is next with four goals and nine points. In goal, Fontenot is 3-5-1 with a 2.10 GAA, a .732 save percentage, and two shutouts.
