LAKE CHARLES, La. – The shutout streak was snapped, but the winning streak remains intact, as Houston Baptist won its third game in as many tries, in the Huskies' comeback win with two runs in the top of the seventh to defeat Louisiana Tech, 5-4, Saturday evening at the Cowgirl Invitational.
Lauren Schwirtlich continued her phenomenal start at the plate for HBU (3-0), going 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored.
Melissa Herman went 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI.

Michaela Granchelli, and
Daniella Rodarte each had an RBI.
Erin Kipp led Louisiana Tech (4-4) with two hits, going 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Dacia Hale led the Lady Techsters with two RBI.
After a scoreless first, LA Tech got on the board first with a single run in the bottom of the second on an RBI double by Amanda Krueger.
HBU answered with a two-run top of the third to take a 2-1 lead. L. Schwirtlich hit a one-out triple to right field and later scored on a fielder's choice by Rademacher. Rademacher later crossed home on an RBI single by Herman.
LA Tech tied the game at two with a single run in the bottom of the fifth, as Kipp hit a two-out homer to left field. The Huskies took a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth, as L. Schwirtlich crossed home on an RBI single by K. Schwirtlich.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Techsters scored twice to take a 4-3 lead off of two unearned runs. The Huskies started the decisive seventh inning on a double by Herman.
Callie Herrington pinch-ran for Herman and scored on an RBI double by M. Granchelli, tying the game at four. With two outs and runners at first and second, Rodarte came up to the plate and singled, scoring M. Granchelli and giving the Huskies a 5-4 lead heading to the bottom of the inning.
The Lady Techsters went down in order to give the Huskies a dramatic 5-4 win.
HBU will conclude the McNeese State Cowgirl Classic against Southern on Sun., Feb. 17 at 3 pm.
