Men's Basketball Closes Out 2013 at Pepperdine

Huskies face Waves in final game before first season of Southland Conference play.

MALIBU, Calif. - HBU plays its final game before Christmas break and it final tuneup before beginning its first season in Southland Conference play when it faces Pepperdine Saturday at 3 p.m. CST at Firestone Fieldhouse.
 
Sophomore guard Rob Lewis leads the Huskies (3-8) at 12.6 points per game primarily off the bench, while junior guard Tyler Russell adds 11.9 points per game. Sophomore forward Cody Joyce is a shade under double figures at 9.9 points per game. Junior center Ricmonds Vilde leads HBU with 5.5 rebounds per game.
 
Stacy Davis averages 15.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game for Pepperdine (6-5), while Brendan Lane averages 14.4 points and leads the Waves with 8.4 rebounds per game. Jeremy Major adds 11.2 points per game, shoots 42 percent from 3-point range and leads the team with 5.0 assists per game.
 
Last season was the first meeting between the two schools, with Pepperdine outlasting HBU in overtime, 57-53, in Houston. Russell and Art Bernardi had 14 points each for the Huskies, while Lorne Jackson had 17 off the bench for the Waves.
 
HBU is coming off a 78-58 loss to DePaul Wednesday night in Chicago to open the road trip, while Pepperdine dropped a 78-61 decision to Washington State in its last game Sunday.
 
The Huskies return to action when they hit the road to open league play, taking on Oral Roberts Jan. 2 in Tulsa, Okla., then Central Arkansas Jan. 4 in Conway. Ark.
