WACO, Texas – Junior guard Tayler Jefferson scored a season-high 13 points and junior forward Shanice Steenholdt recorded her third double-double of the season, but No. 9 Baylor defeated the Huskies, 100-57, Sunday afternoon at the Ferrell Center.

Along with her 13 points, Jefferson added three rebounds, a block, and a steal for HBU (3-5). Steenholdt scored 12 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, as she and Jefferson each played in a game-high 30 minutes. Rachel Arthur finished in double figures, as she scored 10 points. Anna Strickland scored seven points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Odyssey Sims led Baylor (8-1) with 25 points, while Nina Davis and Khadijah Cave scored 16 and 12, respectively. Sune Agbuke earned a double-double of 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

Baylor opened up the game scoring six of the first eight points before the Huskies cut the deficit to one, 6-5, as Jefferson nailed a three at the 16:47-mark of the first half.

Baylor used a 25-7 run to lead HBU, 31-12, as Makenzie Robertson hit a three-pointer with just under seven minutes to play in the opening half.

HBU used a 7-0 run to cut the deficit by 12, 31-19, as Steenholdt had four points and Jefferson hit a three in the run.

Exchanging buckets and with the Huskies trailing by 13, 34-21, with 4:39 remaining, the Lady Bears closed out the first half on a 17-4 run to lead HBU, 51-25.

Jefferson led HBU with eight points in the first half, while Sims paced the Lady Bears with 16 points.

The Huskies started the second half with another trey by Jefferson, but Baylor scored the next 10 points to take the momentum back. The Huskies came as close as 26 as HBU used back-to-back jumpers by Erin McGarrachan and Jefferson.

HBU will head to the west coast this week before breaking for Christmas. The Huskies play at Bakersfield on Dec. 19 at 9 pm central, then UC Davis on Dec. 21 at 2 pm central.
