Taylor Thompson was named College Football Performance Award's FCS National Defensive Back of the Week, the organization announced Monday.
Thompson, a Bellville product, had two interceptions, returning the first one 46 yards for a touchdown, and also added a fumble recovery and a pair of tackles in the Huskies' 49-7 victory over Texas College Saturday. For the season, he leads the Huskies with four interceptions and ranks fourth with 35 tackles.
CFPA provides the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. The Huskies conclude their inaugural season with a Homecoming matchup against Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday at 3 p.m. at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory's Crusader Stadium.
