Box Score
ARLINGTON, Texas –
Keely Shuler tossed a complete game, six-hit shutout as Houston Baptist defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 1-0, Saturday morning on day two of the UTA Tournament from Allan Saxe Field.
It was a pitching duel between Shuler and UAPB's Heather Leigh, as there was no scoring until the Husky half of the sixth inning.
Callie Herrington started off the bottom half of the inning with a single to left field. After advancing to second on a
Melissa Herman sac bunt and to third on a wild pitch,
Victoria Granchelli hit an RBI single, bringing home Herrington.
That was all the scoring Shuler needed, as she allowed just six hits in seven innings. She walked two and struck out three.
Holly Webb led HBU at the plate, going 2-for-3, while Herrington, V. Granchelli,
Michaela Granchelli,
Mac Christensen and
Rebecca Rademacher each had a hit.
Six different Lions had a hit. Amanda Norberg went 1-for-2 with two walks.
Leigh took the loss, giving up seven hits, one earned run and two walks while striking out one.
HBU (3-2) will play in tonight's 5 pm semifinal game against the same UAPB Lions. UT-Arlington is currently playing the first semifinal game. Drake defeated UTA earlier today, 3-2.
