HOUSTON – Houston Baptist women's basketball's final two regular season home games come this weekend, as the Huskies welcome Utah Valley and North Dakota to Sharp Gym on Thu., Feb. 23 and Sat., Feb. 25, respectively. Tip off for both games is set for 7 pm.

HBU is 0-4 all-time against Utah Valley and will play the Wolverines twice in a span of five days. HBU and UVU were supposed to play in Orem, Utah on Sat, Feb. 4, but the game was postponed due to inclement weather. The Huskies and Wolverines will play the second part of the matchup this Tues., Feb. 28 at 2 pm central.

HBU (1-22, 0-6 GWC) shot just 25 percent from the floor and scored a season-low 28 points in an 88-28 loss at NJIT on Feb. 18.

The Highlanders led the Huskies 51-11 at halftime and outscored the Huskies 31-3 in points off turnovers and 52-5 in bench points.

Joselyn Pugh scored a team-high 10 points and tied for the team high of five rebounds with Devyn Weymouth. Tayler Jefferson scored seven points and had two assists, one block and one steal.

NJIT shot over 50 percent from the floor and nearly 50 percent from beyond the arc. Uju Nwankwo came off the bench to score a game-high 16 points. She also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Shanice Steenholdt leads HBU on the season with 18.7 ppg and 10.9 rpg. Weymouth is second with 8.1 ppg and 6.1 rpg. Weymouth leads the team with 52 assists.

Weymouth is ranked seventh in the conference in rebounds per game, averaging 6.1. She is not only the only freshman in the top 7, but is also the shortest player. The closest player to the 5'7” Weymouth is NJIT's Rayven Johnson, as the 5'8” guard is ranked second in the conference.

In conference-only, Weymouth is ranked third in rebounds, averaging 8.5 rpg, behind Utah Valley's Sammie Jensen and NJIT's Johnson.

Utah Valley (12-12, 4-2 GWC) began its three-game road trip with a 70-41 loss at Seattle on Feb. 18.

Jenna Johnson led the Wolverines with 10 points, while Sammie Jensen grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Talissa Rhea scored a game-high 19 points for Seattle, while Kacie Sowell recorded a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds.

On the season, Jensen leads Utah Valley with 14.0 ppg and 10.4 rpg. Johnson is second with 8.1 ppg and Kaycee Mansfield is second on the glass, averaging 5.3 rpg. Erika Newbold has a a team-high 33 blocks, while Abbie Beutler has dished out 56 assists.

North Dakota (16-10, 6-1 GWC) has been dominant in conference play ever since a GWC-opening loss to Utah Valley on Jan. 26.

The last time the Fighting Sioux played was a 79-45 home win over Mayville State on Feb. 14. Allyssa Wall led all scorers with 23 points, while Emily Evers had seven rebounds. Hailey Longtin led Mayville State with 14 points.
Madi Buck leads UND with 11.0 ppg and 7.7 rpg. Wall is second with 10.1 ppg and 6.1 rpg.

UND plays at UT-Pan American Thursday night.

Saturday's game against North Dakota will be Senior Day, where Mollye Mlcak will be recognized before the game.
