HOUSTON – Houston Baptist will make its first road trip in 2012, heading to conference foes North Dakota and Utah Valley this weekend. HBU will face UND Thursday night and UVU Saturday afternoon.

HBU is looking for its first victory against both opponents, as UND leads the all-time series, 8-0, and UVU leads, 4-0.
HBU (1-18, 0-3 GWC) shot just 23 percent from the floor and gave up 23 offensive rebounds, as the Huskies lost to UT-Pan American, 55-41, on Jan. 28. The Huskies concluded their five-game home stand at 1-4.

Tayler Jefferson tied a career high with 10 points, while Devyn Weymouth set a new personal best with 13 rebounds. She also added eight points, two assists and two steals. Jefferson went a perfect 6-for-6 from the line.

Donna Jackson recorded a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Adanna Opara came close, scoring nine points and grabbing 11 boards. Johnondra Patterson had 13 points, seven rebounds, one assist and four steals in 20 minutes.

Shanice Steenholdt leads the Huskies with 18.7 ppg and 10.9 rpg. Weymouth is second with 8.2 ppg and 5.3 rpg, while leading the team with 45 assists.

In the Jan. 24 and Jan. 31 USA Today ESPN Division I Top 25 Coaches' Polls, UTEP received votes, marking the third-consecutive season that the Huskies have had a ranked opponent on the schedule. HBU hosted national power Duke to open the 2009-10 campaign, hosted a University of Houston squad in 2010-11 that reached the NCAA Tournament, and traveled to El Paso to play UTEP back in November of the 2011-12 season.

Weymouth has been a rebounding machine for the Huskies lately. The 5'7” guard has grabbed five or more rebounds in four-straight games, including setting a new personal mark with 13 Saturday against UT-Pan American. That had broken her previous personal best of 11, which came at the beginning of the streak against Huston-Tillotson on Jan. 10. She is second on the team with 5.3 rpg.

North Dakota (11-10, 2-1 GWC) swept its weekend road games at NJIT and Chicago State and is now tied for first place with a 2-1 conference mark.

Against the reigning conference champs, Chicago State on Jan. 28, Nicole Smart hit five 3-pointers en route to a 21-point performance. Emily Evers came off the bench to score 13 points and grab 13 rebounds, while both Allyssa Wall and Katie Houdek scored 10 points.

Janay Dockery led CSU with 21 points, followed by Tierra Williams with 14. Three Cougars finished with a game-high six rebounds.

Madi Buck leads UND with 11.6 ppg and 8.4 rpg, while Smart is second with 9.0 ppg. Wall is averaging 7.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg while also has 20 steals and 25 blocks.

Utah Valley (10-10, 2-1 GWC) split last weekend, losing at Chicago State, 69-42, on Jan. 26, and winning at NJIT, 61-54, on Jan. 28.

Against NJIT, Sammie Jensen recorded a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds, earning her Great West Conference Player of the Week honors. Erika Newbold scored 13 points.

Rayven Johnson led the Highlanders with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Jensen leads the Wolverines with 14.3 ppg and 10.7 rpg. Jenna Johnson is second on the team with 8.3 ppg. Utah Valley hosts UT-Pan American Thursday evening before facing the Huskies.
