Baseball Falls to Stephen F. Austin

HOUSTON – Houston Baptist surrendered 10 free passes and Stephen F. Austin State took advantage to cruise to a 13-1 victory in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at Husky Field.

 

Junior shortstop Collin Hetzer went 2-for-3 and drove in the Huskies' only run, while junior leftfielder Luke Clements scored the only run for HBU (2-22).

 

Garrett Smith went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, while Bryson Miles went 1-for-2, walked three times and scored four runs for the Lumberjacks (21-9). Jarid Scarafiotti hit a home run, drove in three and scored two.

 

Justin Braddock (3-1) earned the win for SFA, allowing an unearned run on three hits in five innings. Freshman Kobie Hajdik (0-1) took the loss for HBU, giving up five runs on three hits and walking four in 1.1 innings.

 

The Huskies open Great West Conference play as they host North Dakota Friday through Sunday at Husky Field.
